Violet Street Master Bathroom
Original to the home with the trouble of a poorly constructed laundry room addition, this master bathroom/laundry room needed a complete renovation. Building for an aging client, Al Rosa Construction set to employ age-in-place design with an eye for beauty and continuity of design at it’s center. Al Rosa Construction worked closely with an interior designer hired by the client to ensure overall beauty and continuity while navigating the difficult nuances of the design.
The Challenge
The dated, existing bathroom had a tiny 3’ x 3’ tile shower that needed to be expanded to the full 6’ width of the rest of the bathroom. This was needed to accommodate the age-in-place design which included a full-width bench to allow the client to safely sit and relax while showering. The new age-in-place shower would also be curb-less which would require a lengthening of the footprint and redesign of the bathroom layout. The flooring called for a seamless install that spanned the shower, bathroom floor, and laundry room addition.

Our Solution
To expand the shower we removed, reframed, and patched the area where a hallway linen cabinet took up half of the 6’ bathroom width.
Accommodating for a curb-less shower design meant tearing out the entirety of the shower floor framing and then re-framing it down 4” to create space to slope the curb-less tile shower. We then framed in a sturdy bench to provide for a full-width tile bench seat.
The new shower design resulted in a necessary redesigning of the bathroom layout so the toilet and shower could functionally fit into the new layout.
A beautiful, seamless mosaic floor tile was installed and the bathroom was finished off with a new custom vanity, lighted mirror, custom laundry cabinetry, niche storage and a new exterior door with frosted glass.
